The Faculty of Social Sciences wants to contribute to a sustainable development at all levels. Therefore, the faculty has formulated a number of principles for working with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The aim is to create the greatest possible societal impact.
The principles of the SDG work concern the workplace, educational and research activities as well as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The principles are as follows:
The good workplace (SDG 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, and 16)
- We focus on inclusiveness, integrity, equality and diversity
- We promote sustainable conferences
- We promote sustainable procurement
- We work for sustainable transport to, from and between campuses
- We work for sustainable construction on campus
Education (SDG 4, 5, 10 and 17)
- We focus on inclusiveness, integrity, equality and diversity
- All students must have the opportunity to deal with the Sustainable Development Goals, including participation in the megaprojects and educational courses with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and sustainability in general
- All managers and employees must have the opportunity to improve their qualifications in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals
- All continuing education programmes must, to the extent possible, offer teaching in the Sustainable Development Goals
- We ensure a spacious and diverse study environment with practices for equality and diversity
Research (all SDGS)
- The research at the Faculty of Social Sciences contributes to the achievement of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
- The research at the Faculty of Social Sciences supports research-based teaching within sustainability and the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
- The research groups at the Faculty of Social Sciences work continuously with the Sustainable Development Goals and report to the management via existing channels
Cooperation (SDG 4, 11 and 17)
- The Faculty of Social Sciences enters into strategic partnerships with the surrounding community, i.a. the trade union DJ?F, as part of the faculty’s efforts to achieve the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
- The surrounding community is involved in research and educational activities regarding the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
- Internally at AAU, we participate in interdisciplinary research and educational collaborations regarding the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
- We prioritise the Sustainable Development Goals in collaboration with other educational institutions
In addition to the principles, SDG Ambassadors will be appointed among VIP, TAP and students in 2021. The ambassadors will act as SDG advisors to colleagues and fellow students.
