Make sure that your desired date for moving is set to either the 1st or 15th of a month in their application system.
If you wish to move in at the study start we recommend setting it to either August 1st or August 15th as many dorms have a 15 days renovation period. This means that your contract starts the 1st or 15th of August but you are first allowed to occupy the room 15 days after (August 15th or September 1st). Check and ask about the moving in date when you receive an offer for a room.
Your desired date for moving in can be up to 3 months before your studies begin.
TIPS:
KKIK has published detailed information about the application process on their website in English.
IMPORTANT
To increase your chances to get a room at the study start, you should apply in the surrounding areas of Copenhagen (outside the centre).
You should also get acquainted with the conditions for flexible rental ("fleksibel udlejning"), read more here: https://international.kk.dk/artikel/find-your-home-copenhagen,
and the nomination criteria of KKIK (direct link to KKIK's point system).
Make sure also to mark your desired moving in date with either the 1st or 15th of the month.
When you’ve registered on KKIK and S.dk and selected all options for their student housing properties (particularly those with the shortest waiting lists), you’ll receive a room offer via email as soon as a room becomes available according to the waiting lists. This process may take between 1 to 6 months—or even longer if you haven’t opted for the properties with the shortest waiting lists.
Once you receive an offer, it is crucial that you respond promptly to their email. As affordable student housing is in high demand, we advise you to accept the offer. If you decline two offers, you will lose your position on the waiting list and be moved to the end of the queue.
